Doing things the new way isn't always the best way. Sometimes the old ways are better in this new age.

Lucky Charms and Numerology; your personal Magic Square Talisman ...
Long believed to possess great magical properties in India and the far east; numerological Yantras are Magic Squares attuned to an individual by using the numbers of their date of birth to construct the square. Yantra Magic Squares can be used for divination, to bring good luck to the bearer, ward off harm and ill luck, and to draw love and prosperity to you like a magnet. They are relatively simple to make, can be drawn or printed on paper, inscribed on metal, or carved in wood or stone.
In general, Magic squares are any regular grid of numbers; (3 x 3), (4 x 4), etc. where each box of the grid contains an integer number, and all of the rows, columns, and diagonals add up to the same total. Several famous western occultist created and worked with Magic squares: Agrippa, John Dee, Abramelen, and the Golden Dawn just to name a few. Even Benjamin Franklin had a passion for constructing magic squares.

The only book I've seen that describes them in detail is "Talisman Magic, Yantra Squares for Tantric Divination" by Richard Webster (Llewellin Publications, St. Paul, Minnesota, 1995). It's currently out of print, but you can find it out there. The book provides a formula for constructing a (4 x 4) magic using your birthday numbers, and your Life Path from numerology. Let's look at an example to see how they are made.
===> Johnny Depp's Magic Square
Johnny Depp was born on June 9th, 1963. His Life Path of (7) is calculated as follows:
6 9 1963 = (1978) = 1 9 7 8 = (25) = 2 5 = (7).
The top row of his Yantra Magic square if filled in from left to right with the Month, Day, Year (without the century), and his Life Path as follows:
( 6 ) ( 9 ) ( 63 ) ( 7 )
This row sums up to (85), so we fill out the Magic square with numbers such that all of the rows, columns, and diagonals add up to (85) giving us the following result.
( 6 ) ( 9 ) ( 63 ) ( 7 )
( 61 ) ( 9 ) ( 4 ) ( 11 )
( 8 ) ( 64 ) ( 8 ) ( 5 )
( 10 ) ( 3 ) ( 10 ) ( 62 )

Using some very simple techniques and materials, anyone can make a potent talisman to attract money, good fortune, and help you reach your life goals; all through the power of numerology.

Basic Palmistry II
Palmistry, also known as Chiromancy, is the art of telling a person's fortune by looking at the lines and bumps on a person's hand. However, since the 1920s, the art of Chiromancy has come a long way. Chirognomy is a related science in which hand shape; finger shape, fingers, nails and the texture and consistency of the flesh are examined in order to get a glimpse into the inner workings of the personality. Dermatoglyphics is the study of ridge patterns and formations found on the fingertips and palm itself to detect and diagnose inherited diseases. However here we are dealing with what I would call the “Romany Reader Basics” of the Art.
In an earlier new age Notebook called Basic Palmistry I identified the major lines and mounts of the human hand. In this article we are going to examine other kinds of markings and characteristics that are common indicators of personality, temperament and fate.
Bubbles and Loops - Bubbles and loops that occur on life lines, heart lines and fate lines indicate significant episodes in your life or a life that is broken by many odd experiences. Strong clean lines without bubbles are always preferable if you are looking for a serene and quiet life.
Broken Lines - These usually indicate that a life will be disrupted in an upsetting manner. A broken lifeline can mean an early or tragic life. A break in the head line can mean a period of insanity or mental illness.
Crosses and cross-hatching - These marks on any mound or area of the hand often represent stressful influences, events or people. Usually the influence is a significant or important relationship. The deeper the line the more traumatic or life-defining the experience is said to be. The nature of the event is determined on which mound you find the cross or cross-hatching. For instance, if you have a lot of cross-hatching on your Mound of Lower Mars you may encounter a lot of war or violence in your life. Crosses and cross-hatching on your Mound of Apollo can indicate troubles with career, confidence and success. On the outer edge of the hand, just below the little finger and the Mound of Mercury such marks are said to indicate how many children are in your future. If horizontal lines or cross-hatching occurs on your thumbs or fingertips it is a sure sign that you are under too much stress.
Attachment lines - These are lines that occur above the heart line and wrap from the side of the hand and extend out beneath the little finger. This is supposed to indicate the number of significant relationships or attachments you will have in your life.
Healer Stigmata - a long horizontal line that is crossed by three shorter lines indicates this. It is a symbol of natural healing abilities and usually occurs on the mound of Mercury just below the little finger.
Squares - If you find a square on your hand it means that you are a teacher or natural born leader and meant to enlighten others. The area of interest where you will excel is indicated where it is placed on a mound. For instance, a square that is found on the mound of Mercury indicates a career in teaching or education. A square found on the Mound of Venus below the thumb can indicate a nurse, doctor or healer.
Feathery light lines - These can be found all over the hand and are usually an indication of failing health. If the lines travel up from the wrist to the little finger it can indicate a chronic disease or disability.
X's - X's found anywhere in the palm usually indicate travel. If it is found on either of the Mounds of Upper or Lower Mars or on the plain of Mars it means traveling as a result of war or a military career. An X on the mound of Venus (below the thumb) means relocating for love and on the mound of Jupiter an X can mean relocating for reasons to do with career advancement.
Triangles - Triangles anywhere on the palm indicate a decent upbringing and emotional or intellectual strength. This once again depends which mound the triangle is found on. For example: a triangle found on the Mound of Venus indicates emotional strength and understanding when it comes to love. A triangle found on the mound of Saturn beneath the third finger indicates incredible physical and emotional endurance during times of trouble.
The Ring of Solomon - This is a line that circles the base of the Jupiter finger (index finger) and is found in the hands of those who are said to be psychic. It is also believed to represent royal blood or ancestry.
Stars - A star-shaped hatching of lines can mean that you will enjoy especially good fortune wherever that star is located. For instance if you have a star on your Mound of Venus, it can indicate fame. A star on your Mound of Mercury can mean success at relationships. Wherever you find a star on your hand, you are most likely to find good fortune unless it is located on the mound of Saturn beneath your third finger. In that case, it means a life of arrogance and pride without the prizes.

Numerology and Life Paths; by Keith Abbott
Ever have someone come up to you and ask the age old question; "What's your Sign?" This classic pick up line has been used by a whole generation of guys trying to pick up girls - with mixed results. If you ladies want a really good comeback for them, or if you are a sensitive guy who wants something fresh to use for an old cliche, try asking them for Numerology's equivalent to Astrology signs; "What's your Path?"
===> Life Path - Your chief number in Numerology
Your Life Path, is your main number in Numerology; It shows what opportunities will come your way, and where your main talents and abilities lie. It's calculated using Fadic addition. This is the process of adding together your meaningful numbers, and reducing the result to a single digit.
We do this recursively. As an example, lets calculate Johnny Depp's Life Path. Depp was born on June 9th, 1963; so first we add together the month, day, and year of his birth; then we add together the individual digits of the sum to get (25); and finally we sum the (2) digits of the sum (25) to get a single digit (7).
6 9 1963 = 1978; 1 9 7 8 = 25; 2 5 = (7)
So Johnny Depp has a Life Path of (7).
There are (9) major Life Paths which everyone fits into. There are also two sub-paths corresponding to the Master Numbers (11) in Life path (2), and (22) in Life Path (4). But, these are sub-categories of the major Life paths. I've listed them below with a brief description for each one.

The Fine Art of Smudging
An Aboriginal Canadian friend of mine who teaches at the Whispering Lodge in Toronto was explaining to me how physical or emotional healing cannot take place until the person is cleansed of any of the following conditions:
- Emotional conditions such as resentment, bitterness, envy, jealousy and guilt
- Negative thoughts about others or one's past or future
- Negative emotions such as grief, hatred, desire
- Bad or evil spirits
- Attachments or negative energy sent to us from other people
In most Aboriginal traditions, a sweat lodge, basically a tent or teepee or cave filled with smoke and heat, is used to remedy the sick person of these conditions. In ancient Rome, buildings called purgatoriums were used for the same purpose. These smoke and heat filled places were considered sacred spaces in which the spirits or God could lift negative entities and energies from an individual without interference with others. Many indigenous cultures throughout the world use burning herbs, plants and resins to accomplish the same purpose. In some cultures the smoke is taken into one's hands and rubbed over the body to blacken it. This is where the modern day practice got its nickname -- smudging.
Below is a list of common herb, plants, grasses and resins that are commonly used in smudging ceremonies. You can light these substances yourself and carry a bundle of the substance around your home in a counter-clockwise circle to cleanse your space. I highly recommend cleansing the body outside, however, as I have found that sage can burn very fast and create a lot of rapid whirling smoke that easily sets off the fire alarm.
Sage Sprigs - the most common substance used for cleansing is sage. The word sage comes from the Latin word Salvia which means, "to heal." There are also varieties of sage, which are from the Artemisia family of plants. This includes mugwort which s used for cleansing and protection. White sage is used for cleansing and protection. Combining branches of pine and white sages together and burning them is used to attract prosperity.
Cedar and Juniper branches - These evergreen boughs have historically been used to help cleanse, purify and protect ones belongings. Sometimes brooms are made from them to use the smoke "sweep" to cleanse a home during a house blessing.
Sweetgrass - This musty smelling grass is used to drive out bad influences and draw good influences into the home. It is often used after a prayer or ritual to "hold" the magic" in its place.
Copal - this aromatic plant resin is mainly used in South American rituals. The touch of the strongly scented smoke from burning copal is thought to cleanse and purify any object or person.
Frankincense and Myrrh - these "biblical” resins are used in Africa, the Middle East and Europe for ceremonies and rituals. Burned together they are thought to balance yin and yang, or the masculine and feminine energies in a place or dwelling. Either is thought to draw blessings into a home.
Tobacco - Tobacco is burned to float prayers upwards to the Creator where they will be heard and answered. Burning a tobacco along with sage, cedar or sweet grass is thought to enhance the magical intentions of the smudge.
Smudges and resins can be bought commercially from occult, new age and gift shops. I usually put the branches, plants or resins in the bowl and blacken my hands and face with it. While doing this I pray for protection, purification and blessings from above. If healing another person or purifying a room I will sometimes use a feather or a branch to waft the smoke in the desired direction.
Smudging is not all hooey and voodoo. The practice is also thought to created negative ions in the air that remove static and create a positive atmosphere. Not only do people usually feel good afterwards, it also creates a space for the free flowing of positive energies and prayers.
Techno Witch II, Magic With Your PC
You've heard of applied science, well how about applied Magick. The personal computer is just a tool after all, so in theory you should be able to apply the ancient traditions to the modern ways. Here are a few ways that I think you can use your PC to practice metaphysics.
The Gods, Goddesses and energies that oversee the running of you computer include Mercury (Hermes) the God of Communication, Ariadne (the Weaver), the Archangel Gabriel (the Angel of Illumination, Vachu (the Hindu Goddess of Mystic Speech) or Chango, the God of Thunderbolts. If you are having computer problems light a red and blue candle to honour Mercury (for server and email problems), a purple candle to honour Ariadne (for site problems), Temple or Lotus incense to access Vachu (who can help with forwarding files), a yellow candle to access the wisdom of the Archangel Gabriel (to figure out how to get a program running) or a red candle to honour Chango (for problems with electricity).
When sending a resume or an important file …you can practice a bit of magic by creating a symbol for yourself to hide somewhere in the file or in the email. This symbol can represent success to you or prosperity. For instance $ would be an obvious one. Try creating, with a series of letters, numbers or symbols that are significant to you --a sigil that is attached to your emails. It is easy to create a sigil. Take a phrase such as "Money Come To Me" and shorten it to "MCTM" or "mctm" and put it in your tag before you send an important document. There are many sites on the web that teach you how to make a more obscure sigil using numbers and letters- just type the word sigil into your search engine. Once you create the sigil, blow it up into 24 point on your computer and "charge it' by focusing your intent onto the symbol. Keep the master sigil in a file and attach a 9-point version to the bottom of files or emails.
Has someone sent you a nasty email? Don't respond with words. Try this version of a reversal spell. Send the email back to them nine times. If nine times seems too much, send it back three times. This follows the rule of sending back bad energy to its sender three times three times three. After reading their own words, nine times, this may cause the sender to rethink their malevolence. Also effective, is sending the sender back a BLANK email. Press reply, erase all text and charge the blank screen with what you want to say. Send it. The person who sent you the bad email in the first place will probably react with confusion and some fear. NOBODY likes to open a blank email. The blank email has a way of clearing the problem.
You can use the naming and retrieving of files, to bring more luck, prosperity and love in your life. To do this you need to create a folder and fill it with files that contain one word such as love, MONEY, and luck. Inside each of these files put a list of words that relate to your goal … for instance in the file marked money write things such as Quick Cash, Relief From Debt, Prosperity, New Car or what ever you desire. Put these files on your desktop, so each time you start up your computer, you are retrieving the magical energy of the words inside the files.
Turn your mouse into a Magick Mouse by storing it overnight inside a box or a "sleeping bag" that contains a coin, a sprig of rosemary, and a paper heart. There is an old saying that a "mouse in the house brings luck to the house. ' Every time you click your mouse, the energies represented by what you have stored in its "sleeping bag" is said to infuse your life with lucky energy.
Another good way to manifest magic is to use your screen saver. Try to choose imagery that supports your magickal intent… for instance, images of waterfalls and running water symbolize money, images of flowers represent love and images of clouds and sun represent the acquisition of experience and wisdom.
Never underestimate the power of a password either. When you choose login names or passwords, try and choose names that attract positive energy. For instance the password name "fatdope" might just attract more fat dopes into your sphere. Remember the cosmic principle of "like attracts like."
Good times to do computer magic would be noon or on a Sunday, which are times influenced by the Sun, during the signs of Aquarius, Gemini or Libra which all relate to communication and are ruled by the planet Mercury.

Dare To Get What You Want Using Witchcraft Magick Spells
Have you ever thought about using witchcraft magick spells to get what you want? Did you know that using white hat witches spells is actually an often used self-help technique? The truth is, almost everyone is dead wrong about Magick, spells and power. In fact, many "everyday" people use magick spells to get what they want with ease, and now you can too!
Usually witchcraft magic uses objects to focus the mind and keep you reminded that you cast a spell, and what you wanted it to do. Many of these items are household objects (not eye of newt or anything like that though). If you want to use witchcraft spells to perform a little magick, you'll need a few of these "magical" objects. These object usually include witchcraft candles, or regular longer burning candles, food items, like nuts or seasonings, and other things you can make from items usually already in and around your house.
The truth is, witchcraft magick spells and their effectiveness is in your belief of them. The real power is inside YOU! You are just releasing it into the world by giving it a direction to go. For example, if you are casting a magic love spell, you tell the magick where to go and who to land on. That way you're sure to get what you want. You are basically sending your energy to the person you want to cast a spell on.
The reason the other people practicing magick spells won't tell you how effective they are is that they are scared that they will lose power if more people start to use magick spells. They simply don't want everyone casting magic love spells, and having all the good luck in the world. They've decided to keep it all for themselves!
Fortunately, Whitehat Witches know that Witchcraft Magick spells can't hurt anyone! There is enough love, luck and money in the world for everyone. The question is how do you bring it YOUR way? And/or, how do you send it to where you want it to go?

Choosing, Cleansing and Charging Crystals
I have written a lot of articles about gemstones, rocks and crystals for this site that describe which ones are best for prosperity, love and protection. If you look back in the archives here, you will find lots of information about gemstones, crystals and semi-precious stones and their magical purposes.
This article teaches you how to make optimum use of these natural allies of the spirit.
First of all, when you go to a new age or gem store, you will usually find baskets or drawers filled with various kinds of gems. Tumbled stones are usually the cheapest and feature lumpy rounded surfaces. Points are gems that have been cut so that they resemble a geometric shape or a small tower.
The most important thing is to pick up the stone and see if it feels right in your hand. One stone might feel somehow "better" than another. The process of feeling energy from an object by holding it is called "psychometry."
It is very common to set foot in such shops and then step out again holding a bag full of stones that are quite different than the ones you originally intended to purchase. Don't worry, as this is quite common. Many of us make decisions about which stone we need to heal by reading a diagnostic description and then feel a certain rock or crystal "call out to us" in the store. Half of the time that is the remedy for the situation that you really need. For instance if you set out to buy Chinese Jade for money drawing, but instead walk out with a nice big hunk of Rose Quartz (which is more for emotional healing), the fact that you chose this stone might open your way for abundance. It could be that the quartz is a somehow more suitable coin it may soften a "block" you have inside with regards to prosperity. As this is not a pure science, you are well advised in this situation to follow your gut instincts and have faith in the universe.
If you find yourself attracted to a certain color of stone, pay attention as well, as it may reflect a color that is missing in your aura. For instance, an attraction to red or pink stone might represent a desire for more love and security in your life whereas an attraction to a purple stone might mean you are ready to advance on the spiritual path.
Once you have your stones, it is important to cleanse them of any energy they may have picked up in the past. Crystals are little storehouses that can collect various forms of energy and they may have been touched, handled or meditated upon before you bought them. Quartz crystals, in particular, can just pick up vibes from an environment.
There are four main methods of clearing crystals.
The Solar Method:
Perhaps the easiest and quickest method for clearing stones, especially crystals, is simply to place them outside in direct sun for one full day.
The Sea Salt Method:
Bury the crystal in a jar or bowl filled with sea salt and let it sit overnight. Do not use the salt for cooking or ingesting or bathing in after this though. Some prefer to soak the crystal in seawater. If you live near an ocean that's great, but you can make your own 'sea water' by just adding a couple of spoonfuls of sea salt to a container of water. The best container for either procedure is glass or ceramic. Don't leave your stones or crystals in there more that 24 hours as too much salt can cause a crystal to start growing a limb or developing a seam. After 24 hours rinse the crystals with water, preferably spring or distilled water.
Smudging:
Smudging a crystal involves passing the crystal through smoke. Usually the source of the smoke is a burning bundle of cedar or sage (this can also be purchased in new age or health stores.) You can also clear crystals using the smoke from rosemary, sage, frankincense, myrrh or Tibetan temple incense. This ritual finds its origins in both Native American and pagan traditions.
Breath:
Hold the crystal in your dominant hand, or if you bought a huge one, in both of your hands. Focus your thoughts on the crystal and imbue it with the intention of freeing it of all negative influences and energy. As you hold this intention in your thoughts, inhale forcefully through your nose and exhale forcefully on the stone. The idea is that your breath cleanses the rock and makes it your own. This is an Eastern as well as Nordic tradition for clearing objects. It will only work if you do feel truly connected to the divine as you are doing it. If you easily attach emotions, resentments, or are in a bad mood, save this technique for another day.
After you have cleansed your crystal, you need to "charge it" with your intention. There are ways of doing this and you might want to use your imagination. For some charging a crystal is a simple as holding it in your hand, meditating and pouring your intention into it.
Others charge their crystal by a stream (for cleansing), at high tide at sea (for vitality and health), at low tide (for slowing down, relaxation), during the New Moon (for new beginnings) or during the full moon (for abundance).
Single crystals or stones may also be charged by placing them on a cluster of crystals that have already been charged or on an altar that has been dedicated to the Divine in some way.
The changing of crystals is a personal matter and it is vital to use your imagination when it comes to know how and where is the right time to do it. After you are done charging the crystal, keep it close to you, and soon you will start to notice subtle changes within yourself.
Conjure up Romance: Basic Steps in Love Spell Casting
The casting of a love spell is a powerful thing. The combination of words and action can lead to magic and change your life forever. spell casting has been used for centuries by love struck individuals wanting to take charge of their destiny and alter the course of their lives. The power of a love spell is not to be taken lightly. Before attempting to cast a spell on the one you love, learn the basics of spell casting.
The first step in spell casting is to think about what it is that you would like to see happen. It is crucial that you be very clear about what changes you would like to create. It is reckless behavior to cast a spell on an innocent person for the wrong reasons, and your harmful actions can in turn bring about bad karma. To avoid this, examine your reasons for wanting to cast a spell and know exactly what outcome it is you are looking for.
The second stage in spell casting involves eliminating what it is that is blocking you from your love. Perhaps the one you love has been hurt before and is wary of falling in love again? Or perhaps the person you have always adored is simply blind to your affection and needs to be given the chance to see you in a different light. The elimination stage allows you to proceed with your spell casting, but be aware that it is not always easy to move past this stage. In order to discover your barriers, you can use one of two techniques: meditation or pendulum work. Both techniques involve quieting your mind and accessing a means of communication with your inner self. To achieve either of these states, practice a simple meditation technique by sitting calmly with your legs crossed and concentrate on one small part of your body. As you concentrate on the tip of your nose, for instance, your mind will drift away from the immediate and conscious world and will move beyond, to your subconscious mind. Whether you meditate quietly in this fashion or use a pendulum to will yourself into a state of near hypnosis, your aim is to delve into your subconscious to find the true cause of what is preventing you from being with your great love.
Before deciding on which basic love spell to use in your quest for love, go through the necessary cleansing process. This involves finding a room that can symbolically serve as your special place, and with only candlelight to guide you, rinse your hands clean of any potential negative energy and residue. To prepare a cleansing mixture, simply mix warm water with salt.
As you learn more about how to cast a powerful love spell, know that there are many spells that may be the perfect way to change your life. As mentioned, do not attempt to cast a spell without first taking these few measures. Also know that a spell is given its strength through the sheer power of your mind. You must believe in the spell you are casting and you must concentrate in order to successfully find love. Good luck and may you find true and everlasting love!
